Ah, the poncho…the swarthy brother-in-law to
the muu-muu. Typically worn for warmth or to shield its
wearer from rain, this shapeless, unisex garment originated in
South America and was recently seen on the hit
show “Ugly Betty” as an object of ridicule. This subject
requires little discussion…if you are not a direct descendent
of Juan Valdez or currently starring as Clint Eastwood’s
“Blondie” in your community theatre’s rendition of
“The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” a poncho
is never a good idea.
